Insect bites and stings often cause a skin reaction, you might get a painful and itchy red lump on your skin. Many bites and stings will clear up within a day if treated safely at home. Bee sting, fire ant bites can be more painful, while bites from mosquitoes and fleas are more itchy. Even though insect bites and stings can be treated at home, people having extreme reactions require medical treatment to prevent death. 




  • Redness and pain are the two most common symptoms of insect bites and stings.
  • Some insect bites may result in itching.
  • Burning sensation is also a symptom of insect bites and stings.
  • You may also experience swelling, numbness, and tingling.
  • Some people may have life-threatening reactions to insect bites and bee stings, including chest pain, difficulty breathing/swallowing, abdominal pain, vomiting, face swelling, etc.




  • Honey bees and bumble bees cause painful stings.
  • Hornets and wasps. Unlike honey bees, hornets do not die after stinging. They can sting repeatedly and cause more pain.
  • Fire ant is a general name for several species of ants, it includes red ants, ginger ants, tropical fire ants, and more. Fire ant stings cause red spots and blisters.
  • There are several blood sucking and biting insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, flies, bedbugs, etc., these are not poisonous but can cause infections.



Home Remedies To Cure Insect Bites and Stings


Baking soda

  • Baking soda is a popular remedy for insect bites. It helps relieve itching and bring out the poison from the sting.
  • Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a glass of water. Rub this mixture on the bite using a  clean cloth.
  • Alternatively, add little amount of water to a tablespoon of baking soda and apply this paste on the bite. Let it sit for 10 minutes. This is helpful especially for bee sting.



  • Soap can reduce the itching caused by insect bites.
  • Just dampen the affected area with a warm water and run the soap bar over it.
  • You can also rub the dry soap without using water.




  • Ice is an effective remedy for insect bite as it reduces swelling and itching.
  • Keep rubbing a cube of ice wrapped in a clean cloth to the affected area.


Lemon or Lime


  • Lemon or lime juice can help to relieve itching from insect bite.
  • Just rub the bite with a lemon or lemon slice.


Aloe vera

  • Aloe vera reduces the burning sensation and itching caused by bee sting and insect bite.
  • Rub the aloe vera juice on affected area for 10-15 minutes.

Piles, also known as Haemorrhoids, are inflammations that develop around and inside anus. The haemorrhoidal veins are located at the lowest part of the anus and rectum.  These veins sometimes get stretched or irritated due to bowel movement and this makes them to swell. There are two categories, internal haemorrhoids and external haemorrhoids. Internal haemorrhoid is not visible while external haemorrhoid is visible.




  • Sometimes you can feel a hard lump around the anus and this lump can be painful.
  • Feeling that the bowels are still full even after going to the toilet.
  • You may notice red blood after a bowel movement.

  • Constipation or diarrhea, both can cause piles. Straining at the toilet, increasing the pressure on veins around the anus is a very common reason for piles.
  • Most commonly, pregnant women get affected by piles. This is due to pressure of the baby that lies just above the anus and rectum. Hormonal changes also cause piles during pregnancy.
  • Ageing; as our age increases, the tissues in the lining of the anus may become less supportive. This may lead to piles.
  • Hereditary factors also influence the chances of getting piles.
  • Chronic cough, lifting heavy weights are some of the other causes for piles.


Home Remedies To Cure Piles




  • Ice is a very helpful home remedy for reducing the pain and inflammation.
  • Apply an ice pack on the affected area for about ten minutes. Repeat this several times until haemorrhoid goes away.
  • Alternatively,  wrap small pack of frozen peas or other vegetables in a tea towel and apply it on the haemorrhoid. Repeat several times a day.

Lemon Juice


  • Lemon juice strengthens the blood vessels and capillaries and hence gives relief from haemorrhoid.
  • Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice on the haemorrhoid.
  • Alternatively, squeeze half a lemon and add the juice into a cup of hot milk and drink. Do this 3-4 times in a day.

Almond Oil


  • Almond oil has soothing effect and tissue absorption property. It is mainly used for external haemorrhoid treatment.
  • Dip a cotton ball in almond oil and apply it on the affected area.

Whole Grains

  • Whole grains is full of fibre and helps relieve haemorrhoid symptoms.
  • Start eating oats, barley, brown rice, buckwheat, etc., on daily basis.

Skin pigmentation basically affects the colour of the skin. Skin gets colour from a pigment called melanin. Certain cells make melanin and when these cells become unhealthy or get damaged, it affects the production of melanin. When there is a excess production of melanin, skin gets darker and when there is too little melanin, skin gets lighter and causes white patches.




  • Skin darkening or lightening is the main symptom of skin pigmentation.
  • You can also find patches on the skin. These patches can vary in size and found anywhere on the body.




  • Excess exposure to sunlight can cause skin pigmentation. When the skin is exposed to harmful ultraviolet rays, inflammation occurs. High inflammation level is responsible for the production of inflammatory mediators and these hormones cause skin reaction and contributes to higher production of melanin.
  • Any kind of skin damage, including pimple, cuts, etc., lead to excess melanin production and hence skin pigmentation.
  • Improper hair removal and allergic reactions eventually cause skin pigmentation.
  • Pregnancy or hormonal changes boost melanin production.
  • You can get skin pigmentation genetically.
  • Medications such as antibiotics, hormone medications, anti-seizure drugs also contribute to skin pigmentation.


Home Remedies To Cure Skin pigmentation




  • Lemon/lime has natural skin-lightening property. In addition, it is a great source of vitamin C and a powerful antioxidant that protects skin from U rays.
  • Squeeze a lemon and collect the juice in a bowl. Add little honey to it and apply the mixture to your skin and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse off with normal water. Repeat twice daily.



  • Potatoes contain enzyme called catecholase that has the ability to bleach the skin and lighten the skin tone.
  • Cut the potato into pieces and add few drops of water on the exposed side. Rub it on the affected area for a few minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Repeat this 3-4 times a day for about a month.


Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Apple cider vinegar helps restore the skin's natural colour due to its astringent property. Also, it makes the skin look brighter .
  • Mix 3-4 tablespoons each of water and apple cider vinegar. Apply it on the affected area and leave it on for 5-6 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat twice daily.


Aloe vera


  • Aloe vera is a natural cleansing agent and it helps reduce spots.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and half a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture on your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat once daily for about two weeks.

Baking Soda

    •    Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a natural antacid that provides quick relief from heartburn.
    •    Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Stir and drink it 4-5 times a day.
Aloe Vera

    •    Aloe vera provides relief from stomach inflammation and helps soothe esophagus due to its healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
    •    Simply drink half a cup of cool or room temperature aloe vera juice about 20 minutes before your meals.
Apple Cider Vinegar

    •    Apple cider vinegar aids digestion and helps balance acid production in the stomach.
    •    Add 1-2 teaspoons of organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water. Drink it 20-30 minutes before eating a meal. Do this on regular basis for a couple of months.
Yellow Mustard

    •    Yellow mustard is helpful for acid reflux as it neutralizes stomach acid.
    •    Just eat a teaspoon of yellow mustard when acid reflux strikes or if you feel heartburn. If you feel mustard is too strong for you, just drink a glass of water, immediately after consuming mustard.



    •    Bananas contain natural antacids that can act as a buffer against acid reflux. 
    •    Eat 1 to 2 bananas daily.


    •    Fennel has a amalgam called anethole, it helps to improve digestion and suppress stomach spasms. 
    •    Just chew half a teaspoon of fennel seeds post your meals.
    •    You can also boil a teaspoon of fennel seeds in a cup of water for 10 mins and drink it after straining.

Sore throat refers to scratchiness, pain, or irritation of the throat. Throat pain makes it hard to swallow food and liquids. 




    •    Painful or a dry throat is one of the main symptoms of sore throat. Often this pain is accompanied by itchiness and irritation.

    •    Difficult to swallow or talk due to pain.

    •    Swollen glands in your jaw or neck.

    •    You may notice white patches on the tonsils.

    •    Hoarseness is also a sign of sore throat.

    •    You may also experience fever, cough, sneezing, running nose, body aches, or headache before you get sore throat.




    •    A number of bacterial infections, or Viral infections such as common cold, flu, mononucleosis, chickenpox, etc., cause sore throat.

    •    Allergies and irritants can contribute to sore throat.

    •    Dry indoor air can make your throat feel itchy and rough and can cause sore throat.

    •    Muscle strain, caused by screaming or talking loudly leads to sore throat.

    •    Severe medical conditions such as HIV infection or cancerous tumors in the throat can cause a sore throat.


Home Remedies To Cure Sore Throat




    •    Lemon helps remove mucus and thus relieves sore throat.

    •    Squeeze half a lemon to get the juice and add one teaspoon of honey to it. Add this mixture to a cup of hot water and sip it slowly.

    •    Alternatively, you can lick half a lemon sprinkled with little pepper over it.


Apple cider vinegar


    •    Antibacterial properties of apple cider vinegar helps treat sore throat.

    •    Add one teaspoon each of lemon juice and honey and one tablespoon of unfiltered, raw apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water. Drink it 2-3 times daily.

    •    You can also gargle with apple cider vinegar solution; add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water and gargle with it several times a day.




    •    Cinnamon is an excellent remedy for sore throat caused due to common cold.

    •    Mix one teaspoon each of cinnamon powder and black pepper with a glass of warm water. Strain this mixture and gargle with it several times a day.

    •    Alternatively, consume the mixture of one teaspoon of honey and few drops of cinnamon oil twice daily.



    •    Antibacterial and antiseptic properties of garlic helps treat as well as prevent sore throat.

    •    Consume 2-3 raw garlic cloves daily.

    •    Alternatively, add 4-5 drops of garlic oil to 1/4th cup of water and gargle with it 1-2 times daily.

Stomach worms can come in many shapes and sizes. They are more common than you may think. Most of the times, stomach worms can thrive in the human body with no signs of its presence. However, sometimes a person can feel constantly ill and have no idea what's going on. Most common stomach worms include tapeworms, pin-worms, roundworms, etc.

    •    Consume one tablespoon of shredded coconut with breakfast and after three hours, drink a glass of warm milk mixed with 2 tablespoons of castor oil. Repeat daily once until you get relief.


Pumpkin Seeds

    •    Pumpkin seeds also have anti-parasitic properties and thus they can paralyze stomach worms.

    •    Mix one tablespoon each of roasted, crushed  pumpkin seeds and honey. Eat this mixture first thing in the morning for about a week. 

    •    Alternatively, add 2 tablespoons of crushed pumpkin seeds to 3 cups of boiling water. Let it boil for another 20-30 minutes. Allow it to cool and drink it.




    •    Garlic is helpful for dealing with any kind of stomach worms due to its anti-parasitic nature. In addition, antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal properties of garlic help body to get rid of microbes.

    •    Eat 3-4 fresh, raw garlic cloves on an empty stomach daily for about a week.

    •    Alternatively, add 2 crushed garlic cloves to half a cup of milk and boil it. Drink it on an empty stomach, repeat daily for about a week.


Carom Seeds

    •    The thymol content in carom seeds hinders the growth of stomach worms.

    •    Eat a small piece of jaggery on an empty stomach and after 15 minutes, consume ¼ or ½ teaspoon of crushed carom seeds and then quickly drink a glass of water. Repeat daily once for about 2 weeks.
