The meaning of Yoga is Union.
Physical yoga brings the physical body in harmony with the mind.
An unbalanced or disconnected mind will indulge in bad dietary habits. An individual who performs physical yoga will alter their dietary habits as they get in touch with and fully understand their physical being.
Meditation, on the other hand, is Yoga for the mind. Purifying the mind is also extremely beneficial in producing a good individual who is at peace with themselves. A society of individuals at peace with themselves will create a harmonious society which benefits all.
So please continue with physical yoga for a strong body which is the temple of the mind.
But also take up a meditation technique to purify the mind of all its inherent “limitations” of anger, lust, jealousy, gluttony…

The sense of upliftment and elation you experience as the mind is rid of all its negativities - you may choose to call it heaven on Earth or whatever - the label does not matter.
