Methods to prevent -

  • Quit smoking and alcohol once the condition is diagnosed, since they not only decrease your blood pressure but also affect the health of baby.
  • A healthy workout regime under the guidance of the instructor. This not only keeps you active physically but regulates the stress hormone cortisol, which hinders the healthy growth of fetus
  • A balanced nutrition, with enough hydration.

Home remedies

  • Ginger – Crush an inch of ginger and add it to 2 cups of water. Bring it to boil and allow the ginger to seep into water. Strain and drink this concoction 2-3 times a day
  • Carotene rich food – Carrots, beets etc are said to have positive effect. Gives best result when consumed raw
  • Garlic – With not just benefits regarding heart and fertility issues, garlic is said to reduce the blood pressure considerably. Can dry roast the same or consume it raw for best results.  Including it as part of the meal is also a good idea.
