When you meditate, the frequency of your brain passes from Beta waves to Alpha waves. This means that the parasympathetic part of the brain takes charge of the nervous system. More nervous signals are then sent to the organs and glands, thus creating ideal conditions for healing. Some mystics refer to this state as “the sacred space”. This is the reason why your body and mind will not need much rest when practising meditation. Sleeping too much will cause your mind to become drowsy.
