How successful is IUI in treating infertility?Is data published by hospitals reliable?

• In the very first attempt, there is a probability that 10-20% of women conceive through IUI.
• Upon repeated trials, with six being the maximum allowable limit, the chances of getting pregnant increase up to 80%.
• It is however greatly dependent on the health of the woman, the fallopian tube status and sperm sample.
• Taking age as the criteria, the chances of getting pregnant decrease with increase in the age. IUI gives best results for couple under 35 years of age.
• Various clinics show different success rates, however emphasis should be given on checking the number of successful pregnancy through the term and birth, rather than just a positive conception.
