Dandruff is basically defined as a chronic or a minor scalp condition that can get better or worse with time. It is attributed to many factors.

The most common symptoms of dandruff include-

 

  • Flakiness and whitish flakes on the scalp and the hair area

  • In other cases, dandruff could be oily and the flakes would be settled on scalp

  • Not shampooing enough or dirty scalps are the most common dandruff cause
  • Fungus is another prominent cause of dandruff where the flakes are signs of inherent infections
  • Dryness of the scalp leads to flaky white scalp too
  • Some people may experience sensitivity to different hair products, leading to dandruff 
  • Irritated and oily skin too is a common cause of dandruff

Extra virgin or regular coconut oil can be used for this remedy. You can heat it up a little to ensure its absorbed well by the scalp. 

 

  • Take about 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil or as per your hair thickness and length
  • To this you can add a few drops of lemon juice, which hastens the process of healing. It also combats oily hair issues
  • Massage well on the scalp and let it stay for a few hours
  • Wash with dandruff shampoo

 

Yogurt

Yogurt has been used for centuries to combat the issues of dandruff thanks to its rich probiotic qualities.

 

  • Take thick yogurt and strain out the water if possible
  • To this you can add some honey for extra conditioning also along with eggs
  • Mix all the ingredients well. Yogurt can be used alone too
  • Massage well deep into the scalp and the roots
  • Let it stay for about 20 minutes
  • Wash with dandruff shampoo

 

Tea tree oil

  • Take a few drops of tea tree oil and mix with any other base oil
  • You can use either coconut or almond oil as per your choice
  • Now massage scalp very well. You can also add some tea tree oil to your bathing water and then use it on the scalp
