One most important thing to be considered before opting for sperm donation is the screening for HIV. Once the sample is given it is screened for HIV antibodies. The sample is stored for 6 months through cryopreservation. After that the screening is done again to check if the antibodies have developed in the sample. This is done because, though the virus advents the body now, the presence of it is only detectable after 6 months of the onset of the disease.
